Privacy Policy

The short version: NotchTutor never stores your writing or uses it to train models — text is processed via OpenAI's API solely to generate your corrections. The website collects only what is needed to sign you in, manage downloads, and understand aggregate site usage.

1. Who we are

NotchTutor ("we", "us") provides the NotchTutor macOS application and the notchtutor.com website. For any privacy question, contact us at hi@vippie.co.

2. The NotchTutor app: how your text is processed

When you request a correction, the text you are working on is sent securely to OpenAI's API, which generates the correction and explanation and returns them to your Mac. We do not store your text on our servers, build profiles from it, or use it to train models; under OpenAI's API data policy, API inputs are not used to train OpenAI's models. The app does not include analytics trackers or advertising SDKs. Update checks contact our version endpoint and exchange only version information — no document content.

3. Website data we collect

When you use notchtutor.com we collect: (a) analytics data via Google Analytics (pages visited, approximate location, device type) to understand how the site is used; (b) account information (name and email address) provided by Google or Apple when you choose to sign in, used solely to manage your account and downloads; (c) waiting-list requests (your email and chosen platform) if you join a platform waiting list; (d) basic download records (which signed-in account downloaded the app, and when) to operate and secure the service.

4. Cookies

The website uses a session cookie strictly to keep you signed in during the download flow, and Google Analytics cookies for aggregate usage statistics. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not sell or share personal data with advertisers.

5. How long we keep data

Session cookies expire after 15 minutes. Account, waiting-list, and download records are retained while your account is active or as needed to operate the service. You can request deletion at any time (see Section 7).

6. Third parties

We rely on the following processors: OpenAI (processing the text you submit for correction), Google (OAuth sign-in and Analytics), Apple (Sign in with Apple), and our hosting provider (Railway). Each receives only the data necessary for its function. We never sell personal data.

7. Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing hi@vippie.co. If you are in the EEA/UK, you additionally have the right to data portability and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

8. Changes to this policy

If we materially change this policy, we will update this page and revise the date below. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance.
